HIS Founders’ Commmittee

Our Founders’ Committee is a group of HIS parents, advisors, researchers, and leaders from across sectors. We’ve come together to help launch a new school and a new educational model.

Why

We’re building a new kind of school, focused on human well-being and deeper forms of learning. If we succeed, we hope to be of service not just to our own students, but also to other schools looking to move in this direction. In order to develop the leaders needed to protect our planet and manage the complexity of the 21st century, we believe that new school approaches will be required.

Who

The Founders’ Committee consists of HIS parents, advisors, researchers, and leaders from the business, government, and NGO sectors, as well as founder Tomoko Kusamoto and principal Chris Balme. The Committee meets monthly as a whole, while also creating Committees to meet and work together as needed.

What

We are vision-holders for what HIS can be, adding our own skills to make this vision come to life. That can mean advising on strategic questions, bringing relevant research, creating partnerships with other innovative organizations, or supporting fundraising and outreach. Each person contributes according to their areas of knowledge and passion.
